Title page (original) is soiled, has some creases, and has remnants of tape near binding. Presentation copy: "J.G. Lind, Ogden, Utah Dec. 16.1905. Presented by honorable G. E. Sutherland U.S.S.." J. G. Lind was a Utah miner and assayer. George E. Sutherland was a Utah Congressman, Senator, and eventual U.S. Supreme Court Justice. This book was bound while it was in the library of Walter S. Lombardo. This was an early survey of the mining districts in the Ketchikan area, before there were many topographic maps for the area. Emphasis is on gold mines, but also includes copper, coal, building stone and limestone. 118 pages, including Plate 1 (a beautiful color map of Southeastern Alaska), Plate 2 Sketch map of the Ketchikan Mining District is MISSING. Also 6 figures (all sketch maps of regions showing mining claims).
